Wow! Sorry I haven’t updated you all on the titilating news from here at Pioneer Press HQ, but I have been so darned busy …it’s untrue.
We had the Beecher reunion shows at the end of April which were fantasssstic! Print reviews for those are starting to roll in (I will post some pics soon), and all seem to echo a cry for new material. Hmm…Watch this space pop-pickers, you’ll be the first to know if there is anything to report from Camp Beecher. For now though, you could always satsify yourself with some fancy merch.
Most of my May has been taken up by Anaal Nathrakh, and who can complain about that? Their new album, Passion, was out on May 23rd and that too is getting amazing reviews. They have been on tour for much of the month so I have spent many a late night squinting at the screen on my Blackberry as I drift off to sleep, making last minute show arrangements with foreign men. Oh, it’s a glamourous life.
Incidentally, both Beecher and Anaal Nathrakh have bloody good sound men. If you are in the market for such an individual, get in touch and I will put you on to them. It’s amazing what a difference a competant engineer can make to live sound. Also, the ever-fantastic tour manager, John Cooke deserves a mention too, as he takes over the foreign negotiations to allow me to get some sleep. What a guy!
Before I veer into Oscars speech territory, I will get down to business and tell you that there are some tasty releases coming up that I am working on. Danmaku (Thrash attack from the Nathrakh enclosure), Departures (hardcore of the new school variety) and Gold Kids (more hardcore, this time Italian) are all blasting out summer releases. If you have not heard a peep from me regarding any of these releases, and you are the sort of person who tends to write reviews on such subjects- something must have gone awry! Please get in touch and I will furnish you with all the promos your heart desires.
I hereby promise to keep everyone more thoroughly up to date from now on. It simply will not do for people to be left wondering “What ARE they up to over at Pioneer Music Press?”. Consider that query now resolved.
I will leave you with one final, thought provoking piece of multi-media to help you through the day. The wonderful Mike Banks over at Recordproduction.com ventured to the wilds of Wales to make a couple of videos at Foel Studio, the results of which (featuring the affable Chris Fielding) can be seen here.
Adieu!
