FETO Records is where this all started for me; I saw an opportunity to boss about some guys and I seized it!
Those guys were Mick Kenney (Anaal Nathrakh, Mistress) and Shane Embury (Napalm Death, Venomous Concept) who had not that long previous set up their own label. I had dabbled in some tour booking for some of Micks bands, and when he asked me if I knew anything about how to get CD reviews I thought well, how hard can it be..?!
One steep learning curve later and I was a regular at my local post office and an avid follower of which journalist was at which magazine and for how long. Shane and Mick have been absolutely supportive of me branching out and starting up Pioneer Music Press, and I am very grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to learn my trade. Even if it was purely by default that I knew more than them about magazines.
